Excuse me if you have already answered this, but do you any classes based on alchemy or crafting? I bet a player blacksmith would make alot of money. Or classes based on being a thief, to steal the blacksmiths gold.

I plan to definitely have a thief.

Hmm... I know how I could create a Blacksmith, Alchemist, or Craftsman... that would actually be quite nice. I'll see if I can make it work.

I already have like 60 different possible item recipes done.

A lot of the weapons and armors and robes can be upgraded. For instance, you have a LongSword +6, +9, and +12.
Items may be altered and upgraded depending on what is put into them.
For instance...

LongSword+6, Crystal, 250 GP = LongSword+9 (Blue).
LongSword+9 (Blue), Sapphire, 400 GP = LongSword +12 (Blue).

There is also a LongSword+9 (Green) but I won't be giving out that recipe. Though...

LongSword+9 (Green), 2x Ghoul Tooth, Yellow Geode, 900 GP = Deathrender +15.

And you can't do the above with a LongSword+9 (Blue) as only the LS+9 (Green) is predisposed toward necromantic enchantment, being green...


As information goes, all the standard smithing/crafting gems in the game are:
Yellow Geode (lowest)
Red Geode (average)
Blue Geode (highest)
Crystal
Ice Crystal
Jade (bout 125 GP)
Malachite (maybe 100-175 GP)
Ruby (350-450 GP)
Emerald (500 GP)
Sapphire (675 GP)
Diamond (really fuggin' rare drop, worth 1000 GP)

There are also maybe 5 really rare ones that can be made into literally uber items.

Blackrock is one. You can make an Orcish Smasher mace out of it. It's badass.

Can any class or race create any items? I think that if you are a dwarf you should have some items only dwarves can make, and the same for other races. I'm decent with the editor and with a couple trigger spells it wouldnt be too hard to make some crafters. But hey, it is your map.

I could perhaps rearrange the skills somewhat so you can have crafting, alchemy and smithing... or use triggers etc... hmm, this would require some thought.

I expect I could divide crafting by race, and change what you can craft depending on where you are.

So, for instance, a Night Elf could make some kind of druidic staff but only in a certain deep Ancient-forest. Or an orc could smith a powerful blackrock axe but only in the caverns under a volcano.

I'll think about the system...

Screenie!

This one is of the DH up close in game using the new normal camera.

He's carrying a shield and an Aural Sword, for which you can see the cost and description.

You can again see the spellbook, and a stream behind the DH that flows by Andorel.

The inventory also includes some Iron and a Yellow Geode. Admittedly, the icons are crappy and will probably be replaced.

Another screen.

This one gives a good view of the swords.

The one in the DH's right hand (with the red square thingies) is the Aural Sword. The one in his left hand is the Gleaming Blade.

There's also the insignificant little text of the camera zoom command.

You can actually fight in Unarmed Style that gives you a 10% chance to stun an opponent. Fast-attacking warriors like Rogues can take advantage of this and keep their enemies stunned half the time while bashing on them. Not using weapons does rather put you behind in damage... this will probably be adjusted somewhat but this is the general idea.

///Going at a dragon with no weapons = very fast death\\\

Oh, and dragons - they'll be fuggin' huge. As in HUGE and LVL 100. I might even make an entire new model for the things.

As dragon stats go in my current "monster manual":

Dragon, Red (LVL 100)
25500 HP/5600 MP
54 armor
421-581 Normal damage
Abilities: Ignite, Rain of Fire, Firebolt, Spell Immunity, Bash.

There's also Blue/Azure, Green, Black, and Bronze dragons. Perhaps White.

About the Unarmed; Couldnt you just make like Gauntlets Etc, things that affect speed/stun ability, and maybe even damage? sort of like some of dose d&d games.

Gauntlets will probably be another item slot that always adds damage and speed/stun/etc. without affecting style. So you can use them to modify unarmed combat without being considered weapons...

alright besides that i have a super duper idea.
you should have the classes all lined up and when you pick a class there could be like five diff chars for that class.
i think its a super duper idea anyway.

I'd love to have customizeable chars, but Warcraft is rather crippled in that sense. Weapons have different models (like 6 different swords, 2 or 3 BM katanas, a dagger or two, like 4 spears...) and you can wear certain helmets, like the horned metal one in the Naga screen.

I could maybe do gauntlets... but armor would be really difficult because:

A. The models have very different proportions. Pally is like twice as fat as a DH and the Naga witch has like 4 freakin' arms...

B. If I were to use skins (work for both armor and hair/skin colors), importing even one skin for each of the 20+ characters would take up like 2 megabytes of space and is quite impossible with B.Net.

At least you get to carry a bunch of fancy swords and stuff...

I was thinking of having mounts, since there's a mounted counterpart for many of the walking models... but there's no goddamn mounted blood elves, save the Dragonhawk Rider, which flies... aiieeee...

I will let you have pets though. As in nonsummonable hero-like ones.

Orcs, Tauren get wolves, perhaps ravens. Maybe quilbeasts or something. (sorry, kodos are just too fuggin' huge)
NE get bears or maybe owls. Panthers if I can make the model work decently.
Humans/BE get dogs or maybe even falcons.
Naga get SnapDragons or couatls or turtles.
Undead/Fell Humans (Necromancer, Dark Ranger, Deathknight, Warlock) would get ghouls (XXXDDDDDD!!! ). Or cryptfiends. Or even a shade, if applicable.

Pets level, like heroes. They rather leech experience as you don't get something for nothing. They are capped at level 90. They have abilities and stuff, like Cannibalize(Ghouls), Web(CFs), Maul(Wolves, bears, dogs??), Poison(snapdragons, couatls, CFs??) etc. etc....

If faithful old suicidal Sparky rubs a dragon the wrong way, you can pay to have him revived at a bind stone or perhaps altar of some kind. I expect revival costs will start at about 100 for 1st-level pets and reach maybe 2000 for 90th-level panthers and stuff, which are pure badassness anyhow...

I'll also let you have a (spell-immune, yeah) pack mule for dragging treasure about (especially since you can only carry 2 swords, 1 helmet, 1 armor suit, 1 gauntlet pair at the same time). And probably a stash or bank of some kind, to keep, say, Sapphires in while you try to find the necessary upgradeable frost staff.

Screenie!

This is the bridge between Andorel and the Spider Forest.

We can see a pack mule (carrying full plate, which is described in the tooltip). The thing has 500 HP and is spell immune, just to lessen the chances of its death and decrease the frustration, you know...

There's the infernal summon and the DH, the latter somewhat injured from beating up on spiders.

Could we see a screenie on what the custom weapons look like on something other than the demon hunter? I cant imagine duel wield with Paladin.

I wonder, Rynjaxx, is there anyway to make the Demon Hunter's warblades a seperate model to be attached, similar to the way the swords are? If there is it would be good for your MMORPG, because, well think about it! Every weapon on any character...yeah...

i was thinking different levels of trust between People and monsters, where yuo could actually ally monsters, or get yuor blacksmith to make a sword that could do that, i think wthat would be neato But you couldn't control them, it would be like a comp doing it or sumthing, with the AI Editor yuo could prolly do it(although YOU prolly could without one) Im realy looking foreward to this map.

Edit: a new idea popped into my head, able to marry adn have kids go along with you, kinda like mercanarys and train with you

I have a faction system in mind, so you can ally with the playable races if you do certain things that would be considered friendly by them. (and mess up alliances by, say, killing off villagers with Rain of Fire). I will probably do something along those lines with creep/neutral races. Say, a gnoll encampment where you can buy certain rare herbs but only if they come to like you.

Marrying I don't know about... With only about 9 players per game (allowing 3 for the main races) and little chance of meeting someone consistently during several games etc. etc.... if anything it would probably wind up as someone's scheme for making pets.

You got 'em!

Here we have lvl 58 Granis Darkhammer beating the shitzen out of a spider with a pair of Choramol: Frostbloods.

Choramols get reduced damage penalties in offhand (they do 66% damage as opposed to only 50% damage when offhanded) and have a 5% chance to cast Frost Nova on hit. Very expensive stuff though.

Here's a screen of the pally in the forest at night. Looks quite a bit more striking in massive 1600x1200 fullscreen.

Also, I spiffified the forest with heaps of shrubs and vegetation. You can actually hide in the stuff somewhat.

Granis the Paladin injecting beatdown energies into an Aranea. In case you've never played NWN, Aranea are lycanthropic spiders, i.e. werespiders. I altered them just a little. Anyway, usually they show up as loveable little villagers that are seemingly lost in the forest. As you walk up to see if you can talk to him or help, BAM! 33 levels of Unholy Frenzy-casting, Bloodlusting, Roaring spider in yer face! Makes great area noobie deterrent.

Okay, one more screen. Forest (Yes I know you've had enough forest, be patient. I'm sick of the spiders myself. ) in the daylight, with the Demon Hunter hiding in the mass of brush. Even more excellent when you have some Plate of Elune +12 that lets you Shadowmeld.

I just happened along this now, and WOW! well done, I didn't realise this sort of stuff could be done with the editor.
It sounds a bit like what blizzard wanted the game to be like,
