Here we have your Frost Elemental...

The Sorceress or Mage (haven't quite decided which I'll have) gets a random Elemental Summon spell that picks from Fire, Frost, Acid, Earth, and Water. All the elementals are comparable in power, but have different abilities and stuff.

Human Rogue. (might make it a High Elf, but who really cares?) At top level of the Stealth skill they get, they can backstab for like 700 points of damage. Of course that is usually applied to things that already have 3000 hp, but if you really hate the Gnolls or something...

This seems more and more like WoW each day, late releases of classes, and lots of descriptions of spells at late stages of developement. Well... this is AWESOME 1337ness ryn, and I REAAAAAAAAALLY hope i get to beta....

Here's a screenie showing various foods you can buy/find/get and consume for various benefits from good basic heal/mana restore to some strange magical effects.

This Rogue has a Keg of Ale, a Mug of Ale, a Jar of Honey (yes, yes, I know, WTF?), Cheese, Greens (vegetables, meh), and a Beef Roast.

Check out the historical tooltips, they're highly educational.

The general rule is that drinks boost MP and food boosts HP, so your low-mana-regen warriors will have a reason to hang out and chug dwarven brew at the local tavern.

Check out the tooltip of history, once again.

Orc warrior with more food, including Battleroarer's Ale (think of it as dwarven uber-uber-uber-coffee ), Thunderbrew Ale (highly restorative, with the Pandaren touch), Berries, Orcish Mead, and Edible Roots.

Nihinferati and a Marileth.

The undead-demon Nihinferati are all burning, and have wings, which look weird but which I 'll alter a bit so they look better...

The Marileth dual wields cleaver-swords, has a cooldown of 0.9 sec, Critical Strike, and is a punker-wannabe.

Ah, and I've finally gotten to updating the PROGRESS READOUT.

I reorganized the thing so there's no inane numbers (which are always behind anyway) and that it gives lists of objects, areas, and heroes that are done...
Some stuff isn't on the list, and I am quite a ways ahead of it, so don't yell at me for having 2 scrolls.

Mr. Blue, may I ask as to how you made those new icons?
Despite my various areas of knowladge, I have no idea how to make, or edit icons for that matter.

I have heard of something called "Yobgul's File Converter" perchance is that it? I have downloaded it and tried it, but it says that MDX, MDL, and the other two items on the menu are invalid, or somesuch.

Is there a new version I have not located?

There is only one Yobguls Converter as far as I know...

If yours actually loads and gives you the window with the "Convert to (...)" buttons, then the problem is probably in the files you're trying to convert...

MDX and MDL are the Warcraft 3D-model formats, MDX is in binary, MDL is in text.
MDX can only be converted to MDL (binary->text), and MDL to MDX(text->binary)

TGA and BLP are the valid 2D-graphics (skins and icons) formats, BLP is the optimal Blizzard bitmap format, and TGA is the widely acceptable one that can be edited in Photoshop or PaintShopPro.

BLPs need to be extracted from War3.mpq or War3x.mpq using an MPQ extractor like TechMPQ or MPQ2k. (I don't use them but they're said to be pretty much excellent at what they do...)

If it doesn't load, it needs to have several .DLL files to work from an older version of War3... hey can be downloaded though. The http://wc3campaigns.com forums have a link or two to it somewhere (most likely Art, Modeling, or Skinning forums), and I think it might be in their Downloads section.

What I use for images, however, is Wc3 Image Extractor II, which can also be downloaded from http://wc3campaigns.com...

Image Extractor only converts BLP to TGA and back, but it can also open MPQs, preview the images inside them, and extract the BLPs or convert them to TGA directly. It can also convert TGAs to BLPs, which can then be imported as unit skins or some such. TGAs themselves may be used for icons, however.
(end technical theory stuff)

How icons are usually made is:
1. In Photoshop, a 32x32 or 64x64 image is drawn for the icon.
2. The image is saved as a TGA.
[[3. The image is converted via Yobguls, Image Extractor, or something else into a BLP, if you want. Icons don't need to be converted unless you're overriding an old one]]
4. If you have the TFT editor, you can use the Import Manager to import the TGA. Then you can set it to a custom path like "ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTN[youriconnamehere].tga".
5. If you want it to fully work, make a darkened version of the icon and import it as "ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtonsDisabled\DISBTN[youriconnamehere].tga". This makes the icon work properly when it's greyed out.

Then the icon may be used in any icon field for an ability/unit/etc, via the "Custom:" dropbox.

Hopefully I didn't make your brain implode or anything...

This one was beautifully violent. Take a high-level rogue, add something like 10 or 12 spiders... chaos, stabbings, criticals, deaths, stabbings, blood, stabbings, massive-attack-rate-doom, stabbings... Entreri couldn't measure up to this if his life depended on it.

Right now, it's about 1.8 MB, which is fairly huge, and may become about 2.5 MB with all the objects and data and icons... Yes, it's frightening. I'm trying to cut down on some things though...

I've downloaded files up to 2.2 MB on Battle.Net, so it's not necessarily fatal, but you'd probably need a broadband modem to manage it. I could chuck some of the icons and get up to 0.3 MB back on those, and a skin or two, which is about 0.12 MB... I could lower the current version to maybe 1.3-1.4 MB...
