Prepare to laugh.
Plate heels for plus 10 sex appeal minus 20 dexterity
Constant telepathy is required for reloading crossbows, so insta mana burn
People say she looks like assasin/amazon/rogue/sylvannas, but she just looks like a female version of the dude from assassin's creed to me.

Thoughts?

Maaaan... the voice acting is so bad. As is the writing.

I will still happily play a Demon Hunter >.<

There's that mandatory monster scream again. Jeez, what an incredibly stupid video. And what's with the huge shoulder pad that videogames keep going on about? Those are the dumbest things ever.

Y'know, if monsters reinvested the time they spend screaming their heads, we'd probably all be dead by now. It's the monstrous equivalent of, "Now that you've fallen into my trap, let me reveal my master plan..."

Isn't that kinda the whole reason good triumphs? Cause evil is incompetent.

Yes. But this isn't a full on Blizzard cinematic either. The cinematics normally show us these characters in some sort of plausible fantasy world. They wouldn't forget to show us reloading a crossbow in a cinematic. Rather I think they'd show reloading in great detail. Their cinematics tend to showcase one thing about a character, like how deathwing got his armor, how a marine is built, a diablo character sticking his face with the soul stone.

It also shows Tyrael using a sword in combat, and it's not Diablo II combat, it's swinging and deflecting and whatever. Real fighting.

THIS video might as well have the demons become highlighted as the hunter scrolls over them with her cursor. They should just magically disappear like in the game. Because that's the same leap of faith we take when she doesn't reload, uses two crossbows at the same time, or fires a hundred arrows with one shot.

What I found strange about this video actually, other than Blizzard's usual complete waste of it's high quality graphics with idiotic scenes, the whole lack of reloading and the low quality look of the monsters. She's just jumping around firing a bajillion bolts per crossbow trigger pull, it just becomes stupid instantaneously. The kind of stupid where it's like "but the axe was glowing, so it killed Manneroth" who was a damn DEMIGOD!

I agree, Ultra. I played the SC2 campaign recently and found myself skipping all the pretty cinematics because they were just unbearably stupid. I swear to God, if I hear the word "brethren" one more fucking time, I'm gonna snap.

They should show the arrow materializing then. A fantasy world still has to be plausible, it's still got to stick to the rules of the world. For instance, even Middle Earth still has gravity all over it. That's a rule of that world that makes what happens in that world plausible. If gravity suddenly disappeared, saving the humans with the brains to strap themselves to the ground from catastrophe we'd all yell "DUES EX MACHINA" and leave the theater. But, we agree that Gandalf is magic, so he can pick up all the orcs with his magic and we'd be fine with it. Because we know that in this universe, Gandalf is magic.

What I'm trying to say is, Bitch has to reload. If it's magic, show us that it is magic. I don't want to read the back story to find that info.

MacMac, you haven't been to TVTropes before? Oh my. Have fun with that!

Also, there's a trope for your above argument.

If you can't tell, I spend a LOT of time on TVTropes.

That's theeeee worst argument ever. She's not reloading because if you look at these things that have nothing to do with the video you can see that it's a magic arrow and how it works is... MAGIC!

Like madmac says, if it's magical and somehow replaces itself, then they need to show it. Nobody is going to go "Gee she's not reloading, *I* must be the stupid one and don't know what's going on as simple rules of physics are blatantly broken in my face for no apparent reason"

Also tvtropes ruins your life.

TVTropes is fun, but I wish it was a little more academic. For instance, I find this trope to be the academic version of Magic A is Magic A. Willing Suspension of Disbelief. That's a term used in college settings for theater or any fiction. But it gets a kind of crummy definition, filled with these links to less academic tropes. Yeah, I think the fun tropes are great too, but I'd expect this one to get a better definition. Perhaps even go into the difference between Plausible and Probable. Is anything in a fantasy world probable? No. But is it plausible to happen in this fantasy world? Depends on whether the Demon Hunter here is level 1 or level 80.

Really? I thought the SC2 cutscenes were pretty cool (read: adept at faking Firefly) whenever the Protoss weren't showing up. I swear in Wings of Liberty the Protoss were that guy who wouldn't leave the room whenever Terran wanted to make out with his girlfriend Zerg.

Holy shit, what happened to Tim Buckley. Did ninjas kill him and replace him with somebody who doesn't always use a four panel layout with more text than art? Has he actually stopped explaining his punch lines entirely? *gasp*

Atrocious.

1. She clearly loads an initial bolt which means she needs to fucking load the things.

2. The second crossbow has the SAME BOLT as the original crossbow. Apparently Diablo 3 introduces secondary professions such as Dentistry to supply DH's with projectiles.

3. The running monster was covering too much ground for its shitty stride length.

4. lol script.

5. Monster lost a tooth eating human intestines.... no wonder she's 1 shotting them.

6. Oh hey look, trail of blood = survivors. I know this cus the dead guy on the ground who detoothed the monster has no blood around him thus logic dictates people who bleed = alive!

7. The first 6 or so shots, including the volley shots, had little to no recoil. The last 5 or so shots have her recoiling like she's firing a bazooka.

8. Animation quality for a blizzard cinematic is pathetic at best. The only thing in the entire movie that looked good was the DH herself.

What a fucking joke.

Well, I don't mind the cinematic quality considering it's in the game engine so that's okay. On a whole, it was entirely retarded though.

You'd think that Blizzard would only release fully rendered videos, but this one definitely isn't. SC2 cut scene graphics, which I'm sure this is basically like, are far superior (if still retarded).

I thought the Carmen Sandiego style footsteps were adorable.

I probably wont until it is cheap to buy then why not. I do agree that the Diablo games have alway been more of a click-fest then anything else but I still did really enjoy the initial play through.

That said I still don't have SCII, which I do want to play. So that will be the first thing.

the click fest of diablo did have initial camp and humor value. True. And exploring was fun.

The monsters required no thought or strategy, just a clickfest, and it quickly became a mindless, repetitive, waste of time, in the hopes of one item slightly better than the preceding.

That and going to new stores that didn't have squat you could use, much like WoW.

Diablo 2 was simply a prettier, glorified version of the first. What made it fun for me was the necromancer and his minions, which were also funny and campy. I'll admit I played it way too much.

But I'd never play it again. Resident Evil 2 taught me the value in making each individual enemy a challenge, hell even Act Raiser teaches the increase in fun a few basic moves can make, like jumping, or giving enemies a shield that blocks all attacks. The skill set in diablo only changes the dynamic in terms of which move you mindlessly repeat.

There's more strategy to fighting in Zelda, Link to the past, which is almost twenty years older. It's not rocket science, you just need more buttons to use - three suffice to make gameplay more varied.

All the gameplay trailers for D3 show it's a glorified version of the second. You run around facing mobs of weaklings that you blow to bits, thoughtlessly, once your skills are high enough. With Zelda, no matter how high powered you are, you still have to pay attention to how you fight each monster. The miniboss they showed in D3 showed potential, but I'd much prefer if almost all the monsters were so involved and challenging - and frightening.

I tried playing D2 a couple years back. I didn't see what the appeal was; it seemed more of an inventory minigame than an RPG. Give me Baldur's Gate any day of the week over that frenetic timesink. I have a theory that the amount of pleasure you take from Diablo is positively correlated with the amount of caffeine in your bloodstream. In my case this meant that I not only didn't have fun, but I was physically allergic any fun that Diablo could provide.

If you want a good RPG, go play Dragon Age: Origins. Or, heck, get some pallies together in meatspace and tabletop it up.

So and So, thank you for referencing Act Raiser with such high regard. That made my day. And on a final note: "STAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRSSSSS!"

I agree with Baldur's Gate, but I hated Dragon Age. Bioware lately has been just as cheesy as Blizzard, but less in a "big budget action flick" type of way and more in a "cheap paperback pulp novel" type way. I think the last good game they made was KotOR.

I liked Dragon Age because it was the first PC RPG I'd played that had a focus on decision-making without have a Good Guy/Bad Guy slider attached to the choices you made. They emulated a 'gritty' setting (which usually just means 'morally ambiguous') by showing that your actions had consequences, without resorting to actually telling you how mathematically nice or naughty a person you were. In this sense, it was the closest I've seen a PC game come to a tabletop RPG. Perhaps I'm overlooking some other game that did it better, but that's what stuck out for me. That and the overt George R. R. Martin references.

Edit: And the awkward sex scenes. Hey you guys! You know how your polygonal character models look really awkward when they interact with anything? Don't animate sex scenes, please!

It's likely I'll play diablo 3, it's more of a multiplayer game to just have some fun for an hour every so often. Doubtless, its story will be more become more idiotic with each installment just like the previous diablo games and its cinematics will be high quality and totally ass-retarded.

Wait, why am i playing this game?

I'm playing it so that me and a friend/wife can unleash high quality animated explosions of doom on a bad guy in co-op mode. I don't expect the story to be amazing, I don't want anything more than "find monster, UNLEASH HELL".

It'll be very pretty eye candy. I'd probably enjoy playing it a while, but yeah, Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale are both far superior story wise.

Well despite the ending I enjoyed never winter nights 2. I guess you can't really play diablo 3 for the storyline, just not the focus of the game.
