human strategy Post #1

i started playing solo recently and when im undead against a human player i see a very common strategy. The human player will start out with either an AM or paly and creep with a heck load of footies. so whne you encounter him he has so many compared to how many ghouls you have. Then he techs to priests and sorcs with full training and as usual i go necros, ghouls and creep but when i encounter him i get absolutely slaghtered. I have tried many different strats.
eg. abos(polymorphed), gargs(wasted), banshee(well i havent tried it yet but i doubt it would work) and orcourse necros(skeles get owned by dispell magic)

any suggestions on how i can beat this strat with undead.

My standard answer to such a dilemma would be: 'POSSESION'. However, given the latest patch, I'm not too sure how well it works now.

Try anti magic shell. With the new patch, it's cheaper now. Simply cast the shell on your troops before you go into combat and the enemy won't be able to poly your aboms. The dispell magic will be a problem. I suggest you guy wands of negation. 2 wands = usable 6 times! That means that you can cleanse your army of negative buffs and HIS of positive ones. I'd advise getting several wands. That way, he'd have invested cash in spellcasters and WASTED it, while you have a superior melee force, and with wands, you can ensure it stays that way.

well

1 second delay, ooo ahh, that gives you so much time to kill a banshee:\.

not only that, its aquisition range increased, so it can cast posession farther. am i seeing something wrong here?

comon blizzard, take off the cheese, its making my cheese toast to cheesy, try 3-4 seconds to cast posession with a banshee, and ill be a happy little lad..

Well, I see the one second delay as a small chance that the banshee may die to stop players from wiating until the banshee is low helath and then possessing. In addition, it gives a chance to stop it with a stun or thunderclap or bash or somethingn of that nature. Or a cold attack.

yeah, steam tanks are serious ownage. only orcs really have an effective counter to steam tanks--raiders. Gyros with bombs i suppose might work but not as well as raiders i dont think.

Slow + 1 second delay on banshees = dead banshees.

I hate banshees. I wish curse was more useful.

Curse is very useful. It is a better defence than inner fire. Curse gvies a 25% miss chance. Innerfire give if the unit have 0 armor additional 23.08% damage decrease. If the unit have 1 armor it is only 20.81% damage decrease and it gets less and less benefit the more armor the unit has. You cast curse on their heavy attckers.

Completely wrong, armor doesnt matter, it always increases at the same pace. I remember a post about this.

Nope that is prebeta armor. THe new armor system has it decreasing in effectiveness as u get more. I remember that if u have 25 its something like 62% decrease in damage only. Originally, it was 5% decrease per armor point, so its 75% already at 15 armor. Then that cozed knights to be almost indestructable so tehy switched to the current system.
